When you come to the presence of God with your problem and continue to pray, when you finish praying before you leave, how confident are you? Are you going to return with the burden that you came with? It is not the sung that you sing when going to the King’s house that you are expected to sing when leaving the King’s presence. Your thought has to change.
There was a woman in the Bible in 1 Samuel 1 : 1 – 19, whose name was Hannah and her husband’s name was Elkanah and the name of the other wife of her husband was Peninnah. The Bible says that every year she always go with her husband and the entire household from their City Ephraim to Shiloh to worship and sacrifice to the Lord and the Lord shut Hannah’s womb.
Hannah was being embarrassed by Peninnah because she was childless and her husband keep on encouraging her but that doesn’t stop this woman from going to Shiloh every year with her husband. Most times, when we go to church and the man of God did not prophecy to some of us, we will not be happy forgetting that everybody has his or her own time of God’s visitation. As Hannah keepĀ on going to Shiloh her spirit was being nourished every time.
There came a day when her adversary Peninnah started molesting her again as before and Hannah could no longer bear the insult and the Bible says that she rose up after eaten and drunk and Eli the Priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord and she was in bitterness of soul and she prayed unto the Lord and ‘‘she vowed a vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid and remember me and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life and there shall no razor come upon his head” – 1 Samuel 1 : 11.
After her prayer, she never allow anyone to intimidate her anymore even the words of the Priest, who said to her that she was drunk but Hannah replied him softly and said, ”no my Lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord. Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. Then Eli answered and said, go in peace and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of Him. And she said, let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way and did eat and her countenance was no more sad”‘ – 1 Samuel 1 : 15 to 18.
Anytime you come to the presence of God, don’t give chances to the devil to act because it will try by all means to cause disappointment even at the last minutes. Let your faith increase because it is your faith that will bring the manifestation that you are expecting. Hannah came to the presence of God with a heavy heart full of sorrow and anguish but before she left, her countenance changed and it made God to move into action and grant her request to her. She never say Lord give me a child. But rather she was specific with her prayer. We have to be specific in our prayers to God and I will leave that for another post. She knows what she wanted. What do you want from God?
Prayer: Everlasting Father, thank You for Your grace, love and compassion upon us. Help us to trust and believe in You no matter how long it takes for You to grant our petition in the name of Jesus Christ. Give us the grace to be specific in our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ.
